PicSchool: Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PicSchool ("the app") is published by Benjamin Plessis, as an individual ("we", "us"). Contact: picschool.contact@gmail.com.

This website is hosted by Google Ireland Limited (Firebase Hosting), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

PicSchool lets a teacher assign weekly tasks and lets students complete them by photographing their work for the teacher to review.

2. Roles

The teacher and their school decide what pupil data is entered and why: they are the data controller. We operate the app and store the data on their behalf as a data processor. Teachers are responsible for obtaining any consent required by their school or by law (including from parents) before entering a child's name or photo.

3. What data we process

• Teacher account: email address and display name.
• Students: first name, last name, an optional photo, and an optional picture code (PIN), all entered by the teacher. No student account, email, or contact details are collected.
• Student work: photos a student takes of their completed work, task statuses, teacher comments and rewards.
• Technical data: crash diagnostics (see §6).

4. Where data is stored

Data is stored on Google Firebase servers located in the European Union (Firestore, Cloud Storage). Access is restricted by security rules so that a teacher can only reach their own classes, and an enrolled classroom device can only reach its assigned class.

5. How long we keep it

Data is kept for as long as the teacher's account exists, and only until the teacher deletes it; we do not delete anything automatically. Deleting the account permanently removes all data it holds, so no student data outlives the teacher account that created it. The teacher decides retention and can, at any time:

• archive a student (hidden from lists, history kept);
• permanently erase a student and all their photos ("Delete Student Data");
• delete their entire account, which permanently removes all their classes, students, tasks and photos.

When a student or account is deleted, the associated files are removed from our servers and from the device's local cache.

6. Third-party services

• Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, crash reporting, anti-abuse), EU region.

The app currently uses no analytics service. If one is added, this policy will be updated first.

We do not sell data and do not use it for advertising.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal data, and may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL). Most requests can be handled directly by the teacher using the in-app tools above; for anything else, contact picschool.contact@gmail.com.

8. Children

PicSchool is a tool operated by teachers. Students never create accounts and provide no contact information. Photos are optional, and teachers are encouraged to photograph work rather than faces.

9. Changes

We will update this page when the app changes and adjust the "last updated" date.
